Our Commitment to Responsible Resource Development
Revitalizing a Past-Producing Mine
The Troilus site was previously mined from 1996 to 2010. Many of you may have relatives or friends who previously worked at Troilus! Troilus is now entering a new chapter, and we can leverage all the existing infrastructure to reduce new environmental impact.
As part of our commitment to lowering our carbon footprint and supporting responsible development, our project is powered by clean, grid-connected hydroelectricity through a 50MW substation at site. We are also exploring complementary alternative energy solutions that could further reduce emissions and minimize reliance on fossil fuels. To learn more about our sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments, have a look at our latest Sustainability Report HERE.
Critical for Electrification & Green Energy
Copper forms a large part of the Troilus mineral deposit. This metal is essential for electric vehicles, wind turbines, and power grids, among other uses, which will help Quebec play a leading role in the clean energy transition.
It is estimated that to meet the projected global demand for copper, over 60 new copper mines would be required by 2030 - an unachievable number! This critical mineral continues to become more and more scarce and valuable.
Long-Term Economic Growth
Troilus is committed to hiring locally, supporting local and Indigenous businesses, and investing in the region’s economic sustainability.
Troilus will provide up to 1,000 jobs annually during the construction phase, and an average of +600 jobs annually during the 22-year mining operation. Currently, 65% of our procurement spending currently goes to local Quebec businesses.
Construction: H2 2026 - 2029
At peak construction, the Troilus project will create up to:
